Al-Fresco Lunch

31st August, 2025

Each year, the Friends’ organise an “Al-Fresco” lunch in the late summer which has, for many years now, been kindly hosted in a private garden in Duncton. We usually have over 150 people attending for a buffet lunch, raffle and auction to raise funds for the Home and in recent years, this has exceeded £9,000 due to the generosity of various sponsors which then enables most of what we raise to go directly to Petworth Cottage.  The 2025 lunch will be held on Sunday 31st August and tickets are £40.00 per head.  If you are interested in attending as a guest or joining our volunteers to help run the event, please get in touch with enquiries@pcnh.co.uk

Care Home Week

6th September, 2025

As we unveil our brand-new logo and launch our refreshed website, we’re also thrilled to be taking part in Care Home Week 2025!
Care Home Week is a wonderful opportunity to shine a spotlight on the incredible care and support modern nursing and care homes provide.
From June 16th to 22nd, we’ll be hosting a full week of activities for our residents, their families, and the wider community to enjoy. Highlights include:
  • A fascinating talk tracing the rich history of Petworth Cottage, from its beginnings as a community hospital in 1839 to the welcoming home it is today.
  • Live performances from local singers to lift the spirits and spark nostalgia.
  • A fun-filled family BBQ where everyone is invited to relax, connect, and celebrate together.
Throughout the week, we’ll also be sharing insights into the wider network of services and partnerships that support us—from local healthcare providers to nearby shops and cafés that help make our home part of the community.

VE-Day Celebrations

10th May, 2025

This year, we brought the spirit of a classic ‘street party’ indoors to celebrate VE Day with our residents.
Though the weather was a bit chilly, the warmth of community filled the Golden Room as we gathered together to mark this special occasion. The room came alive with red, white, and blue decorations, and Union Jacks waving proudly—bringing to life the joy and pride that once echoed through the streets when the bells rang out across every town to announce the end of the war in Europe.
We shared a traditional treat of fish and chips while listening to the iconic voice of Dame Vera Lynn, whose songs stirred memories and emotions from a time that changed the world.
As we celebrated, we also paused to reflect—with gratitude—for the brave men and women who gave everything for our freedom. Their sacrifice continues to shape the peace we enjoy today, and we remember them with deep respect.
