Lead by Oliver Hartley the Friends of Petworth Cottage are local and enthusiastic supporters of the home, fund raising for equipment, for renovation and improvement and for non-medical projects, all of which enhance the comfort and well-being of our residents. Annual events and activities include:

The Petworth Cottage Nursing Home Christmas Quiz 2025
Once again we will be running a quiz not only for our regular supporters but for everyone who would like to take part.
If you can work out which proverb this is:
Too MC spoil TB
Then you will find questions you can answer and stand to win cash prizes of up to £500!
We will “launch“ the quiz on this website on 27th November, which is when copies will also be sent by post to those who requested them last year.
Many local shops, cafés and pubs stock the quiz too so that you can help yourself to a copy.
We would like to take this opportunity of thanking them all for helping to distribute the quiz in this way.
If you would like a “bulk order“ of quizzes so you can send them to your friends then please contact us with your details.

A big ‘Thank you’ to Meghdoot’s Mystique Masala
What a truly special evening ✨
Thanks to the generosity of Meghdoot’s Mystique Masala and everyone who attended, an incredible £500 was raised for Petworth Cottage through a wonderful charity dinner.
It was a beautiful reminder of the power of community — coming together, sharing a meal, and making a real difference for our Residents.
A heartfelt thank you to Sanjay and Mili for making it all possible.
Meghdoots Mystique Masala Charity Evening
We’re delighted to share that Meghdoots Mystique Masala will be supporting Petworth Cottage Nursing Home as one of their chosen charities on Wednesday 25th March.
As part of their fantastic monthly charity evenings, 20% of all takings on the evening will be generously donated to Petworth Cottage — whether you choose to dine in at the restaurant or enjoy a takeaway at home.
This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal while supporting a great local cause.
A Big thank you to Seaford College
Every year, Seaford College holds a Carols by Candlelight service at Chichester Cathedral and chooses a local charity to benefit from the donations collected. This year, Petworth Cottage Nursing Home were selected as the recipient for the 2025 collection.
We were delighted to welcome Father Colin Datchler and some of the younger children from Seaford College to Petworth Cottage Nursing Home this week to present a certificate showing the amount raised.
Residents, trustees, and staff really enjoyed the visit, and we are very grateful for the generosity and ongoing support. Support like this makes a real difference to the experiences we can provide for those in our care.
Thank you to everyone at Seaford College for your continued friendship and community partnership — it means so much to us.
A big thank you to the Badgers in Petworth
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Badgers for their continued generosity in raising funds for Petworth Cottage through their weekly Sunday raffle.
A special thank you to Simon, whose dedication to promoting and supporting local charities – including Petworth Cottage makes a genuine difference. His enthusiasm and commitment to the community are deeply appreciated.
We are also incredibly grateful to the customers and the management team. Your kindness, generosity, and ongoing support help us create positive experiences for those in our care.
The funds raised will go directly toward enhancing our residents’ wellbeing, supporting activities, and providing opportunities that bring enjoyment, comfort, and enrichment to daily life.

Al-Fresco Lunch

Each year, the Friends’ organise an “Al-Fresco” lunch in the late summer which has, for many years now, been kindly hosted in a private garden in Duncton. We usually have over 150 people attending for a buffet lunch, raffle and auction to raise funds for the Home and in recent years, this has exceeded £9,000 due to the generosity of various sponsors which then enables most of what we raise to go directly to Petworth Cottage. The 2025 lunch will be held on Sunday 31st August and tickets are £40.00 per head.
